FOUNDER & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Rev. Nichelle West
aka "Shell"
Preacher | Teacher | Prophet | Chaplain
Pastoral Counselor | Prayer Warrior | Theologian
Nichelle is a compassionate and multifaceted servant-leader, dedicated to fostering healing, restoration, and hope within her community. Hailing from Aurora, Colorado, her journey began within the nurturing environment of Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church in Denver, where she was baptized by Pastor Jules E. Smith. A graduate of Rangeview High School in 2001, Nichelle embarked on a path of higher education, culminating in a Bachelor's of Science degree in Business Administration- Accounting from the University of Northern Colorado in 2006.
God’s grace guided Nichelle through challenging times. Her transformative encounter with God in 2007 marked a pivotal moment, igniting her passion for spiritual growth and ministry. Subsequently, she actively engaged with the Rising Star young adult ministry, recognizing her calling to lead others towards spiritual enlightenment.

Responding to her divine calling, Nichelle pursued theological training at Denver Theological Seminary, where she honed her pastoral skills and embraced her identity as a minister. Combining academic rigor with practical experience, she commenced her preaching ministry at Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church in 2012, concurrently undertaking a chaplaincy role within the Denver Area Youth for Christ, Juvenile Justice Ministry.
Nichelle's dedication to serving marginalized youth led her to earn a Master of Divinity degree from Denver Theological Seminary in May 2016, further solidifying her theological foundation and pastoral competence. Subsequently, she assumed the role of Community Liaison for the Denver Seminary Urban Initiative, facilitating initiatives aimed at equipping urban communities with the transformative message of the Gospel.
Throughout her tenure, Nichelle spearheaded impactful programs, including the Lay Ministry Certificate Program and the groundbreaking Blacks in Theology week and Gala, which raised substantial scholarship funds for minority students. In response to the 2020 crisis of racial injustice, she established Breathing Spaces Forums, providing a platform for collective healing and dialogue regarding racial trauma.
In September 2018, Nichelle was formally licensed to preach and ordained at Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church, where she continues to minister. Beyond her pastoral endeavors, she remained actively involved in community boards and initiatives, including her role as the Education Chair of the Aurora Community of Faith in 2019.
In 2024, she began serving as a hospice care chaplain, where she provides compassionate spiritual and emotional support to patients facing serious or terminal illness, as well as their families. Over the past several years, Nichelle has also devoted time to writing and preparing multiple publications. In 2026, she released her first guided Bible study journal, Writings on the Wall, inspired by her deep love for journaling and the Word of God. That same year, she officially launched A2H Ministry, creating a welcoming and safe space for individuals to explore and express their faith in Jesus Christ.
Despite facing life challenges, she remains steadfast in her conviction that through Christ, she can overcome any obstacle, echoing the words of the Apostle Paul, "For when I am weak, then I am strong." (2 Corinthians 12:10b).
